Matt Borlenghi “hurt” by General Hospital re-cast rumors
Matt Borlenghi has lashed out at Frank Valentini and Ron Carlivati, the executive producer and head writer for ABC soap General Hospital, after news surfaced over the re-cast of Valetin Cassedine, a role Borlenghi used to portray.
“Anyone care to comment on recasting me as Valentin Cassadine? Wasn’t enough that I got Franco’d before? Hurts.”, tweeted the former GH actor.
As we told you previously, former All My Children actor Vincent Irizarry will be taking over the role of Valentin in mid to late 2014. However, this was news that TPTB over at GH did NOT want surfacing any time soon – Ron Carlivati even responded to Borlenghi calling it a “false rumor.”
.@mattieborlenghi It's a false rumor, Matt. No reason to be hurt or upset.

However, we can tell you it’s anything but false. Ron is merely backtracking and doing everything he can to fan the flames.
To say this news has upset some folks would be an understatement. While most are on board with Irizarry joining the show, there are fans who are as equally upset as Borlenghi and are calling on Valentini and Carlivati to bring him back.
Sounds like TPTB may have to do some serious re-thinking over their original decision.
UPDATE: Matt left us the following comment (see below) to clarify a few things:
“First of all, I lashed out at nobody. I respect and admire Mr.’s Valentini and Carlivati immensely. Yes, I was hurt by the news of a re-cast. It opened an old wound of getting “Franco’d” the day after my first and only night of taping in the role of Valentin Cassidine, which I was extremely excited about doing. In my hurt I asked a question. That’s it. If, indeed, Mr. Irizarry gets the honor of playing Valentin for the wonderful GH fans and family, I wish him all the best. He is a terrific human being. As for those who replied in negative ways, well, I wish them the same peace and happiness that I wish for those who replied with support and compassion. Tomorrow is a new day… Happy holidays to all.”
